Have you ever thought about volunteering in your community as a Firefighter and/or EMS responder?

We are looking for people who are prepared to be prepared! Join us and become involved in our community!

If you're looking for an opportunity to make your community a safer place to live, Philomath Fire & Rescue would like to hear from you.  Did you know that we rely on volunteers to respond to emergencies in our Fire District?  We are especially interested in finding willing, capable volunteers in the areas served by our substations. We are in need of volunteers in the Wren area and in the Inavale area. If you live south of Airport Road or west of Wren hill, you can make a huge difference in your neighborhood.

We are looking for people to train for medical and fire emergency response.  Philomath Fire & Rescue provides the training and equipment necessary to safely and effectively respond to the many types of emergency calls in our fire district.

We would be glad to answer any questions you have.  You could become part of the solution to a safer community!

We will provide you with the training and equipment to make a real difference!  We train our Volunteers to NFPA certification levels including, but not limited to, Firefighter I and II, Wildland Firefighter Type I and II, Driver/Operator, Pumper Operator, Tender Operator, Aerial Operator, Fire Officer I, Wildland Engine Boss, as well as specialty training in Extrication and Rescue.  We provide access and reimbursement for EMS training and outside training.

Fill out the application below or give us a call with your questions.  We'd love to add you to our team!

Volunteer Firefighters are members of the Philomath Fire & Rescue community* who act to protect the life and property of our community members from fire and other emergencies though fire suppression and emergency response. If certified, Volunteer Firefighters may also act in EMS roles for the District.

Volunteer Medical Responders are members of the Philomath Fire & Rescue community* who have medical certification through the Oregon Health Authority and provide medical services to protect the members of our community. They act in a strictly non-firefighting role.

Support Volunteers are members of the Philomath Fire & Rescue community* and are interested solely in a support role for the District. These volunteers perform tasks to support District personnel such as coordinating events for the District or providing rehabilitation support for responders on-scene during emergencies. We also welcome trades people to assist in maintaining building and grounds, as well as professional folks willing to help with grant writing, website maintenance, etc.

*At this time, we are only accepting applications from residents of the Philomath Fire District or those living within 30 road miles of the main station (Station 201, 1035 Main St., Philomath). We actively recruit volunteers year round for a Spring Firefighter Academy.

Fire and EMS Volunteers are asked to put in a minimum of participation in service of the Department.  This can take the form of attending drills, doing stand-by time, responding to calls, and participating in Department events.

Here is a document outlining the minimum participation requirements:
